The Brief
Cunningham Design & Planning are a consulting engineering company based in the midlands. A highly regarded practice, they provide a full range of engineering services from water percolation testing and planning services for one-off domestic green field builds to project management, certification and BER testing on commercial property.
They had enjoyed significant growth, expanding their team and service offering but had never fully established their brand. I worked with them to develop their identity, tagline, stationery, editorial advertising and developed a brochure website for the business.
DesignSolution
Following on from the initial Discovery phase, I started with their tagline. Simple and direct, it absolutely defines the service offering, as much of their work is based on green field projects and a high level of personal engagement from the team on every phase of a client project. It also really defined the approach to the identity design which is an abstract acronym device, using the letterforms to symbolise the stages of a typical project from below ground, to the surface and upwards. The colour palette takes its cue from the earth, the green field surface and sky, with the circular nature of their approach to client engagement project management captured in the overlapping letters.
WebsiteDesign
Having never had a web presence, relying (successfully!) on word of mouth referrals, there was an opportunity to expand their reach beyond the midlands. A brochure style responsive website was built which detailed Cunningham Design & Plannings extensive service offering and also provided a useful enquiry form.
