The Brief

Jacobs’ Elite range of premium biscuits have become a firm favourite, including the chocolate coated versions of Kimberley, Mikado and Tea Cakes. The traditional festive biscuit tin is a staple in Irish homes but the Jacobs’s team felt that the existing designs didn’t communicate the premium indulgence of the range and were also out of sync with the rest of the standard retail SKUs.

The brief asked for a brand new design that would work with the existing tin format, visually linked with the non-seasonal core range formats but that would also reposition the Festive range as a premium gifting option for shoppers.

DesignSolution

The design carries through the colour palettes from the retail range, dialing them up on this larger format for visual standout and differentiation on shelf. A tactile emboss applied under the typographic elements, utilisation of the tin material to bring a metallic shine to the wordmark drop shadows, and application of swirling stars finished off with a premium gloss seal, positions the tins firmly in the gifting space. These new tins flew off the shelves on their release for Christmas 2019.
